Online Data Science Courses in NYC: What You’ll Learn

The 30-credit curriculum for the online master’s in data science program consists of three types of courses: two conditional prerequisites (if needed), six core courses, and a selection from six elective options.

In core courses such as DTSC 610: Programming for Data Science, you'll develop skills in Python and R programming, while DTSC 710: Machine Learning will teach you important machine learning concepts and algorithms with applications in activity recognition and anomaly detection. The curriculum covers classification, clustering, feature selection, Bayesian networks, and feature extraction.

For those interested in deeper specialization, electives include DTSC 740: Deep Learning, which presents topics from basic neural networks to convolutional and recurrent network structures, deep unsupervised and reinforcement learning, and applications to problem domains like speech recognition and computer vision. Funding Your Data Science Degree

Tuition for the Online Data Science, M.S. program in the 2024-2025 academic year is $1,215 per credit hour, with a $50 application fee and a $125 graduate fee per 7-week cycle.

Financial aid options include student loans and veterans’ benefits. Federal loans, which include both need-based and non-need-based options, usually offer the best terms.
